Indian Science Congress.

103rdSession of Indian Science Congress.

To be held at Mysuru, India. 

It is organised by Indian Science Congress Association, Kolkata. initiative of two British chemists, namely, Professor J. L. Simonsen and Professor P. S. MacMahon. First president is Sir Ashutosh Mukherjee

Started in the year 1919. Main aim is to develop and promote the science technologies in India. 

102nd session happened at Mumbai, India. Last year theme was "Science & Technology for Human Development".

This year (103rd) theme is "Science & Technology for Indigenous Development in India".

The Minister for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr. Harsh Vardhan will unveil the Indian Science Congress Mega Expo “Pride of India-Frontier Science & Technologies” 

Pride of India expo has some major attractions like Hall of Pride, Vigyan Jyot and Genesis . 

Hall of Pride (HoP)  is the most revered segment of PoI Expo. This specially created pavilion is dedicated to the eminent personalities related to science and technology who have contributed immensely towards the progress and welfare of the nation. This year dedicated to Hon’ble Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.

Genes is is a one day symposium which is organized concurrent to the ISC with complimenting theme to the main science congress. The objective is to bring scientists, industrialists, academicians and policy makers on a common platform to exchange ideas and explore collaborative opportunities. The theme of XIV Genesis has been aptly chosen as “Realising the Make in India Mission through Indigenous Development – Role of MSME” keeping in view the focal theme of this year’s congress.

Vijyan Jyot-- the flame of knowledge – it is a novel initiative of MM Active which was initiated in the year 2010. The aim is to introduce pure science as a career choice amongst the youth and encourage them to opt for this career, thus preparing scientists and innovators for the future.

Displaying the Date and Time: The date Command

The date command tells the system to print the date and time:
$ date

Sat Jul 20 14:42:56 EDT 2002

$

Finding Out Who's Logged In: The who Command

The who command can be used to get information about all users currently logged in to the system:
$ who

pat       tty29    Jul 19 14:40

ruth      tty37    Jul 19 10:54

steve     tty25    Jul 19 15:52

$

The who command also can be used to get information about yourself:
$ who am i

pat       tty29   Jul 19 14:40

$

who and who am i are actually the same command: who. In the latter case, the am and i are arguments to the who command.

Echoing Characters: The echo Command

The echo command prints (or echoes) at the terminal whatever else you happen to type on the line (there are some exceptions to this that you'll learn about later):
$ echo this is a test

this is a test

$ echo why not print out a longer line with echo?

why not print out a longer line with echo?

$ echo A blank line is displayed

$ echo one
