Treaties
It is an agreement under international law entered into by actors in international law, namely sovereign states and international organizations.
It is also known as an (international) agreement, protocol, covenant, convention, pact, or exchange of letters, among other terms.
The party that fails to live up to their obligations can be held liable under international law.
Memorandum of Understanding
It is a formal agreement between two or more parties.
MoU's are not legally binding but they carry a degree of seriousness and mutual respect, stronger than a gentlemen's agreement.
Indian Treaties Database
Legal and Treaties Division acts as a nodal point to deal with all aspects of International law advise to the Government of India. It was established in 1957.
Under Transaction of Business Rules, 1961, cases involving negotiations with foreign countries on treaties, agreements and other important matters need to be brought before the Cabinet for approval.
